Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String? Nope, Not Our Favorite Thing. But We’ll Tell You What Is…
Has it been a whole year already? OMG.

So we took like a 3 hour nap and here it is once again, time to string up the lights, deck the halls, trim the tree and shop on Amazon until we’re broke and mostly dead on the inside.

As adults, the holiday season means so much more than it did when we were merely Santa obsessed children. Here’s some holly jolly truth…

1. Instead of making our Christmas list to send to the North Pole, we now spend 4 days sending out obnoxious family Christmas cards to people we hardly know, or like for that matter.

2. Instead of running home to sled and play in the snow with friends after school, we now spend 3 hours stuck in traffic trying to get home from work because everyone over the age of 70 is terrified to drive in flurries.

3. Instead of watching Christmas TV specials in warm fuzzy penguin pajamas after dinner each night, we now rush out of the house to go to Rite Aid at 11:00 in ripped sweatpants and a stained t-shirt because we forgot about secret Santa day at work tomorrow.

4. Instead of going to sleep with visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads, we now pass out drunk from mass quantities of whiskey nog and wake up with earth shattering hangovers that last through Easter.

If you’re anything like us, it can be easy to misplace that euphoric Christmas feeling you held onto so dearly when you were young. To help breathe some magic back into our holiday season and yours, we asked the elves at the Scriptable Solutions workshop to tell us some of their triumphant favorites from Christmas past and present. Heck if Julie Andrews can go on and on about bright copper kettles and schnitzel with noodles, so can we.

Here are a few favorite things that help us put the jingle back in our bells:

(Side Note: This staff list is ordered by the amount of time spent working at Scriptable Solutions – not by awesomeness. Santa knows that list would look seriously different.)

2. What is your favorite gift to get?

“Wine or any gadget used for opening, serving, storing or drinking wine. And pajamas. The best drinking accessory = pajamas. You might want to write that down.”

3. What is your favorite Christmas meal?

“If I don’t have to cook it…it’s my favorite. But I do enjoy a repeat Thanksgiving dinner on Christmas. It’s my top meal of all-time - so any chance I get to stuff my face with it, I’ll take it, and eat it, and eat it again the next day.”

My dad would do his best Elvis impersonation while my sister and I acted as his light stringing, ornament hanging backup singers. The rest of the family was always involved – I just don’t remember their role in our band.”
